OK I just got Generac Guardian Series 5883 10,000 Watt Air-Cooled Liquid Propane/Natural Gas Powered Standby Generator Without Transfer Switch (CARB Compliant).Not even a little bit impressedBy Glen M. TernesI purchased the 10kw model 5883 on September 1 2010. Ran for exactly 6.8 hours before it crashed and burned (literally). The stator and the rotor melted down completely. Only had about 400 watts load on the generator at the time. It is now October 4th (33 day later) and I still don't have the generator repaired. The nearest "Qualified" service center is over 100 miles away and since I didn't purchase the Generator from them, they have been very unresponsive. I have spent at least 12 hours on the phone with Generac Technical support just to try get someone out to look at the generator. I am a generator Technician with over 30 years experience and I knew exactly what the problem was but Generac would not allow me to work on the unit, lest they would void the warranty. I finally got a so called technician to my location.
